9:09 am - I Tried Vegemite and I Liked It
Good stuff! I sniffed the jar (bad idea) but did the right thing, spreading it THINLY over warm buttered toast. It mixed with the butter and soaked in. I was craving the dark spots on the toast after the second slice.

Court Rules Fox News Has The Right to Lie to You

In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a "policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation. Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was "totally vindicated" by the verdict.

To feed myself and honor my father, I planted a garden. I haven't called him, I've just sent the e-mail with the gallery link. It reminds me of summers past, with digging out roots and loosening the soil and keeping the food safe from garden pests. But we had tomatoes and zucchini for weeks.

7:52 am - Republican Governor Schwarzenegger
Governor mails "truck nuts" to state senator's office
The gag gift from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a metal sculpture of bull testicles, came with a note suggesting the lawmaker would need them to make some tough budget choices, said legislative sources who were not authorized to speak publicly.
An annoyed Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) returned the sculpture with a sober note on the fortitude needed to protect society's vulnerable from the budget ax. That prompted a verbal apology from the governor, the sources said.

6:57 pm - Schwarzenegger proposes to end welfare
I'd like to talk to everyone who told me "he's one of the GOOD Republicans", "he smoked pot in that one documentary", "he's from Hollywood", "he's married to a Kennedy", "what harm could he do?" and say to them, "THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR VOTING HIM IN."

Shock, awe greet Schwarzenegger's proposal to end welfare

He proposes to deny $4B from the federal government, just to save the state from paying $1.8B. It's shortsighted and it screws the poor families for years just to keep the state's books balanced.

Yes, he IS a Republican after all.

9:05 pm - 11/11/2008: I got to be a zombie for Jonathan Coulton.

Fast forward to 57 minutes for "Re: Your Brains". John Hodgman, noted raconteur and actor, and Jonathan Coulton, a singer who is Internet-famous and geek-famous, showed up to talk about their success to the interested colleagues of our company. I scheduled an hour off the desk for a "meeting" and hopped on a bicycle to get to this presentation. I noticed that Coulton had his guitar out, and sure enough, he had some musical numbers. And at the end, he sang my favorite song of his...and I got to sing in the chorus. I'm nowhere near the camera in this recording, and that's just fine with me.

8:46 pm - Busy day.
Designing jewelry and filling a box with high-quality dirt are the highlights of my day today. I'm well-exercised and I look forward to growing something besides grass in that planter box.

I missed Califur, I will probably not make it to Anthrocon, but I'm going to Comic-Con in San Diego -- and staying at the Hard Rock Hotel.

current mood: stoked

Well hey, livejournal. I haven't shared much of late.
It's been a lot of adjusting to new living quarters.
Now that the move has stopped, Spring Housecleaning can begin, and that's taken a lot of my time.
I took out the thick roots and weedy dirt that were in the box garden,
and spread out some bagged soil from the garden store.
I mixed in some compost and welcomed the new tomato plants to my domain.

12:33 pm - Fuck the bureaucracy
Still way sick. Had to get new driver's license because address changed and face changed*.
O hai pop quiz. Take the driver's test. Take the motorcycle driver's test. No studying.
Fuck pop quizzes. I'm not even in school. I didn't have a chance to study the handbook.
I passed... barely.
And I have to carry another lump of folded paper in my wallet while I wait for a new license.

*now with chinwhiskers
